Filmmaker Iara Lee began a journey on the eve of the Iraq war in 2003
to better understand a world in turmoil. After several years and
meeting citizens on five continents, she encountered numerous stories
of those who were fostering change. Their stories are told in
Cultures of Resistance. From Iran, where graffiti and rap became
tools in fighting government repression to Palestinian refugee camps
in Lebanon, where photography, music, and film have given a voice to
those rarely heard, the documentary is a celebration of cultural
diversity, and how art and creativity can be the ammunition for peace.
